Emergencies and natural disasters disproportionately harm disadvantaged communities, worsening the systemic challenges that low-income New Yorkers already face daily. The Robin Hood Relief Fund bolsters communities across the five boroughs by providing crucial support to ensure stability, resilience, and rapid recovery in times of urgent need.

To date, the Fund has distributed over $230 million in aid to front line organizations across New York City.

Over the last 20 years, we have opened our relief fund three times: after 9/11, Superstorm Sandy, and Covid-19. Each of these events had disastrous effects on New York City, yet each taught us how to overcome.

Compassion and action in times of need

9/11

We allocated more than $65 million to support organizations providing emergency assistance and support, job training and mental health services for survivors and the families of 9/11 victims.

Hurricane Sandy

We allocated nearly $82 million to relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy to assist families still trying to recover from the storm through rental assistance, legal aid, and other critical services.

COVID-19

We allocated $83.4 million to support New Yorkers when the COVID-19 pandemic devastated our city, enabling our grantees to provide emergency cash assistance, food, housing and health resources to those in need.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were present and hands-on because that is how we are built. Acting quickly and nimbly in crisis is in our DNA. When change happens, we lean into it, learn from it, and change with it, to help the people who need it the most.

How to Apply

When the Relief Fund is activated, both current Robin Hood grantees as well as organizations that do not currently receive funding can apply. Please email relief@robinhood.org with questions.

The Robin Hood Relief Fund helps New Yorkers by supporting nonprofit organizations on the frontlines. 100 percent of donations will provide emergency support through food, housing, job security and more.
