From unexpected medical bills and increased housing costs, to layoffs and income loss, too many New Yorkers face economic shocks and significant barriers that trap them in a cycle of poverty. Robin Hood’s Adults & Household Supports team works to provide the building blocks of stability and opportunity through well-paying jobs, access to benefits, and housing support.

In 2025, Robin Hood-funded job training programs helped 14,000 New Yorkers secure jobs paying an average of $28 per hour – nearly 70% higher than minimum wage – putting them on a path to greater financial stability. We also helped 110,000 households access public benefits, unlocking $220 million in benefits for families.

Our Strategy

We fund and support our grantee organizations and partners to:

  • Address critical basic needs: We support emergency food provision, enrollment in critical poverty-reducing benefits, and immigration and eviction legal services.
  • Provide housing and homelessness prevention: We advocate for affordable housing, pathways from shelter to permanent housing, and eviction prevention.
  • Support workforce development: We fund programs that provide skills training and connections to well-paying careers.
  • Improve health outcomes: We invest in programs addressing chronic conditions that disproportionately impact low-income New Yorkers.
