Startups receive their initial investment during the Founder Fellowship or Catalyst, often at the earliest stages of company formation and validation.

After completing our program, ventures begin raising their next round of capital from outside investors including angels, VCs, and foundations.

Typically if a venture secures commitments from professional investors and meets our Foundation’s charitable purpose, we may participate in the same round (i.e., on the same terms) to help close the round and sustain momentum.

Only companies that have completed the Blue Ridge Labs Fellowship or Catalyst are eligible; Ventures must continue to demonstrate strong alignment with our mission to fight poverty and improve economic mobility for low-income New Yorkers and Americans nationwide.
